Aldo Cibic

He was born in Schio (Vicenza) in 1955. In 1977 he moved to Milan to work with Ettore Sottsass, becoming his partner in 1980, together with Matteo Thun and Marco Zanini. That same year, 1980, marked the creation of Memphis, of which Cibic was one of the designers and founders, under the guidance of Sottsass. Today the main activities take place in Milan, following urban, architecture and interior projects, and Vicenza with CibicWorkshop involved in design and research, addressing the development of new design typologies.

He also teaches at the Domus Academy, as part of the Industrial Design degree in the Faculty of Architecture at the Milan Plytechnic and as part of the Industrial Design degree in the Faculty of Design at the University of Architecture of Venice, as well as doing research on the relationship between design and society. He is Honorary Professor at Tongiji University, Shangai. In 2010 he is invited to La Biennale di Architettura di Venezia 2010  “People Meet in Architecture” directed by Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima, with the project “Rethinking Happiness”
The Happy Carpets project

The design process t Moret for the Aldo Cibic Collection lasted over two years. During this period the designer came up with many very striking ideas and proposals that were always deeply moving in terms of content. Ultimately, the choice fell on three designs on the basis of their more easily interpreted, universal motifs. In this way we have chosen to embrace Aldo Cibic’s idea of reflecting on the chain of life, with its vegetable, animal and human realms. The movement inside each individual realm and the vertical links, playing up and down between them like a “merry-Go-Round”, construct a story, reflecting his and our desire to present a narrative made up of relations glorifying the creation of our planet.

In 2000 Hasan Pashamoglu founded Moret, the result of his entrepreneurial spirit  and an expert international vision built up over more than thirty years working in the field of luxury goods and interior design. Moret is dedicated to the production of deluxe rugs aimed at satisfying the latest development in taste. Over the last decade, Moret has continued to develop, at times thanks to invaluable collaboration with leading international and Italian architects and interior designers.
